On my Journey

I was thinking today how it is hard to know what you want to be when you grow up when you have so many opportunities available to you. When I was a child I thought the only career choices available to me was to become an airline stewardess, ballerina or a hairdresser. Any of those were OK with me. I wasn't tall enough to work for the airlines and I took ballet lessons and I wasn't good enough to do that and I lost interest in being a hairdresser so what was I going to do? Now there are jobs out there that I have never even heard about. One of our friends is a geneticist and tracking the genome of the blight on potatoes. I can't even spell his career title. But who knew that that career even existed. Another friend is an aestetitician (sp?). What careers are out there that I don't know about and maybe I would be really good at? Too much to worry about I guess. But it makes me wonder. Each of us has our own roads to follow and our own journey to be a part of and some lead to the blights on potatoes and other lead to the missionary field and others lead to teaching or painting or reading to children. But whatever path you are on, do it with all your heart. If you know you are to step out and follow another road, do it. Don't waste time living a mundane, unfulfilled life. Live your life with passion and zeal and praising God for every minute of it. I always know when I am talking about something I am passionate about because my arms start flailing and my voice gets louder. You can imagine me doing this right now. Be who you dreamed you would be, alive and full of life.

Sharon, that cracks me up. I know for sure I didn't even know those jobs existed. I was the kid of a shoe salesman and stay-st-home mom and I was the first one in my family to get a college degree so careers weren't talked about much.
