Paint solutions

I have been trying to figure out what I was going to use to hold all my paint bottles. Up until now they have been in a plastic bin, not romantic enough for me. Last Saturday I went to an estate sale and found a beautiful old tow tier basket. I still wasn't sure what I would use it for but I knew it was coming home with me and would end up on my art room. As it turns out, it looks fabulous holding all my paint. I bought a lazy susan today that matches my table top and voila' you have a romantic yet functional piece. I am even thinking of maybe stringing ribbon around the top tier to add some more cuteness.
I also had some help from the niece, the organizational wizard and we used the small shelf I bought a few weeks ago to display my ribbon and rubber stamps. I love how little details are coming together to in my studio. It might actually get done some day, ha, ha! Let's not get too carried away.

Vintage dress

I found the picture of the vintage dress my daughter bought me. I had to take the photo myself so you can only see the top half but just imagine it knee length and you get the whole idea.
So fun. The belt is leather like and the collar is A-line with a large orange button. I want to wear it right away but it feels more like fall to me because of the colors.

Morning Surprise

Oh this is so exciting. I was talking on the phone to a friend of mine and a deer walked right across our yard. We used to see them all the time but with all the neighbors moving in and our dogs, they stopped coming. Since we don't have outside dogs anymore maybe they will come back. So beautiful! What a joy.

Memorial Weekend

Our church has a big Memorial day picnic every year and this year we were at Pearson Air park. The focus was on the plane that we bought for MAF. I don't have a picture of that one but here was one of the older planes on display.

The other focus was on family. There were so many things to do. We took my grandbaby and he got to take his first pony ride. He wasn't sure about it all.

They also had a petting zoo. This sheep was very friendly and stuck his nose right up in our business.

That was Sunday and on Monday we had a barbecue with family. I spent a huge part of the day sweep all the pine needles off our cement porch, patio and garage pad. Seems our outdoor broom has gone missing again and so I had to use the small inside broom. I got a blister from that one. It looks good though.
Then on Tuesday the new refrigerator arrived, whoo hoo! It is much bigger than the one we had before. Because it has a new configuration; I'm not sure where to put everything. With all the bottles of stuff we have we needed three doors. I can't figure out where to put the large pitchers either. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining I'm just needing to adjust after having the same fridge for the past 14 years. Next on the list is a new dishwasher.

I even fit in a bit of painting. I'm trying to get some things ready to open my Etsy shop but it is going slow. Oh well, it will happen eventually. I'm not really in any rush. One day at a time is what I need to remind myself.
PS. I found the picture of the Kodiak plane going to MAF. Isn't she a beauty?

Saturday fun

It seems that so much is going on that I am missing out posting about it. Yesterday my daughter found a vintage shop and came home with a surprise for me. Oh, how I love surprises. Especially when they fit perfectly. I have a picture but I can't seem to find it at the moment. You'll have to wait to see it. Today, I went to a good friend's birthday party. We have been friends since college days and my husband went to high school with her. Anyhoo, her husband is a professional photographer and took pictures of all us girls. It was a lot of fun but so cold. I was glad I brought my warm coat along. Here I am with actual birthday girl.
Happy Birthday Karen! This picture is of my niece and I. So cool to have a good one of the two of us.
She was my traveling buddy in Paris.
Each of us got a individual shot. My husband ask me if I was going to try out for America's next top model. He won big points for that comment. How very sweet of him.
While the other girls where getting their pictures taken, I walked around and took a few pictures myself.
I just love pictures of old rugged doors.

After our photo session we went to the Farmer's Market and looked at all the booths. I thought this lemonade stand was so cute. Then it was off to her house for lunch, desert and presents. Birthday parties are so much fun. I don't know why we don't have them more often when we are not children anymore.

Spring Fever

OK, it is official, I have spring fever. I don't want to do any of the things that I should be doing. All I want to do is play and dream and soak up the sun. I can't wait until this weekend because we are supposed to get up to 85 degrees and that means a barbecue and sitting outside at our new patio set. I bought the most fragrant lilac bush today and I think I will plant it close to the patio so that I can smell it when I sit there. As I was walking through the store shopping and carrying the lilac in my cart everyone I passed commented on how lovely it smelled. Ohh, Spring smells and all kinds of loveliness.

Be Happy

Finally, I have done a page in my art journal. It seems eons since I have worked in my regular art journal and it felt so good today to be getting messy and put some thoughts down on the page. I have been working in my Paris journal the last couple of days trying to get it finished up but I had no idea it would take so long. I think a trip like that just can't be rushed so I will plug away at it. But for now I have a new page in my journal to share.

The quote is from Anne Frank and reminds me to get out in the world on those especially beautiful days. The little tag in the pocket comes out and has a list of some of the things that make me happy :)

  • Hearing my family tell me that they love me
  • Working in my art journal
  • Reading a good book
  • Sitting in the shade of a tree on a warm sunny day
  • Knowing friends care about me
  • Coffee in the morning
  • Finishing a project
  • Daisies
  • Making a difference in someones life
  • Worshiping God

I hope you'll leave a comment and tell me what makes you happy.
